Petkovic, Andrea v Stosur, Samantha

TENNIS Beijing China Women-15

2015-10-06 10:30:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-05 16:29:57)

The China Open is the last Premier Mandatory tournament of the year on the WTA Tour. Most of the top players are here, except for Serena Williams who is not playing and has withdrawn from the big end of season event in Singapore as well as the WTA Finals. Sharapova is injured and that has left Halep as favourite but she was forced to retire in her first match with a left ankle problem.

Coming to the end of a long season for most players has caused a number of early retirements due to injuries. Bookmakers have varying rules regarding retirements during a match as to whether bets stand or are voided.

Kvitova suffered an early exit at the hands of the ever consistent Errani at odds of 5.4 with Matchbook.

So the value seems to be with outsiders in certain matches in this tournament.

Value match bet on Petkovic with BetVictor at 2.1 , 2.2 with MarathonBet, or wait for a better price with Betfair or Matchbook nearer the start time ,Tuesday 9.15am UK time.

Petkovic v Stosur

Andrea Petkovic's best surface is clay but she has played well on hard courts this year as well. She had a good run in Miami, winning 4 matches against McHale, Mladenovic, Makarova and Pliskova. Sam Stosur won the Gastein Ladies tournament in July but that was on clay. She can lose to quite average players as she has recently against Lucic-Baroni and Babos. Petkovic leads 2-1 in head-to-heads, beating Stosur in February this year in the Fed Cup .

Kerber v Wozniacki

TENNIS - Beijing China - Women

2015-10-07 12:30:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-07 09:42:40)

Market Information:

Angelique Kerber has had a good season winning 4 tournaments but only one of them on hard courts. She beat Wozniaki in Stuttgart but that was on indoor clay and she had home advantage. Kerber is favourite for match but with odds as high as 2.40 (odds dropping now) Wozniaki presents some value.

Caroline Wozniaki is the former number one. She won 3 matches in New Haven and Wimbledon earlier in the year and won the tournament in Kuala Lumpur although that was quite a weak field. In head to head,  Kerber has a slight lead 6-5 but Wozniaki won their last meeting in Toyko . She also had a better season last year than Kerber.

Kerber 1.62  Wozniacki 2.22

Radwanska v Keys

TENNIS - Beijing China - Women

2015-10-08 05:00:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-06 11:54:27)

Market Information:

Radwanska has had an average season by her own high standards, although she did win in Toyko but that was her only tournament win this year . She leads Keys 4-1 in head to head but crucially Keys won their last meeting in the US Open and took a set off Radwanska at Wimbledon .

Keys prefers the fast surfaces winning 3 matches in the US Open and can be forgiven for losing to Serena Williams in the 4th round. She won 4 matches at Wimbledon and reached the semi final in the Australian at the beginning of the year. If her holds her serve she could easily overpower Agnieszka Radwanska.

Radwanska 1.57  Keys 2.29

Ivanovic v Kuznetsova

TENNIS - Beijing China - Women

2015-10-08 12:30:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-08 09:13:54)

Market Information:

This is the battle between ex French Open Champions.

Ivanovic seems to blow hot and cold so that although she played very well against Venus Williams she could just as easily play badly now. She tends to go for her shots too much and if things are not going well she has no B-game to fall back on. She had a good run in the French, reaching the semi-final but that was on clay and played her best tennis at the start of the year. Ivanovic leads 9-2 in head to heads but Kuznetsova has taken a set off her in their last 2 encounters.

Kuznetsova still plays to a high standard and is afraid of no one. In May she was in the final of the Madrid Open also on clay. She has a good defensive game when required and in the previous round here she beat an improving Sloane Stephens at odds against.

Ivanovic 1.29  Kuznetsova 3.42

Ivanovic v Bacsinszky

TENNIS - Beijing China - Women

2015-10-10 07:30:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-09 16:26:27)

Market Information

Ana Ivanovic seems to have a calmer disposition on court now having returned to her former coach Nigel Sears, however Andrew Bettles is helping Ivanovic in Beijing as usual coach Nigel Sears has commitments to BT Sport. Ivanovic still has problems with her serve due to an erratic toss.

Timea Bacsinszky is an under-rated player, partly because she gave up the game for a while due to a domineering father and actually worked as waitress for a while. She played very well earlier in the year reaching the final in Shenzhen. Then won 2 lesser tournaments in Mexico on clay then hard courts. She got to the 1/4  final in Indian Wells losing to Serena Williams, then in the French she reached the semi where she lost to Serena again, having won the first set. She won 4 matches at Wimbledon but then became injured and was side-lined for over a month. Struggling to regain her form she would have 4 consecutive first round loses. That seems to be behind her now as she has found form again and against Errani here in Beijing she came back from (6-0) first set to eventually win.

All in all it should be a close match .

Ivanovic 1.41  Bacsinszky 2.79

Brengle v Konta

Tennis - Linz Austria - Women

2015-10-14 14:30:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-14 13:12:52)

Market Information:

Madison Brengle played very well earlier in the year, getting to the final in Hobart in which she lost to Heather Watson. Her run continued when she won 3 matches in the Australian Open. Later she managed a semi final place in Stuttgart on indoor clay losing to Kerber. That loss began a 9 match losing streak which came to an end at the Rogers Cup. Since then she has won 1 or 2 matches in each tournament she has played - so as a result she should be quite fresh.

Johanna Konta has had an amazing run recently which has taken her to British Number 1. She won 3 matches at the US Open, beating Muguruza along the way. Then in Wuhan another 3 matches, this time winning against Azarenka and Halep. Therefore she may be tired having played so many matches especially as she often has to come through qualifying as well. They have not played before which favours the underdog slightly.

Should be a close match.

Brengle 2.54  Konta 1.48

Watson v Stosur

Tennis - Hong Kong Open - Womens

2015-10-16 05:00:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-15 15:52:00)

Market Information:

Heather Watson started the year very well when she won the tournament in Hobart beating Sloane Stephens. In Indian Wells she won 3 matches, dispatching Radwanska before losing to an inform Suarez Navarro. At Wimbledon she came very close to beating Serena Williams in the 3rd round BUT Since then her form has been indifferent, although the glandular fever she suffered from seems to have gone niw.

Samantha Stosur is 31 now and her best tennis years are probably behind her. Her early form this year was patchy, not winning more than 1 match in a tournament until Madrid. Her best surface is clay which she demonstrated when winning in Strasbourg. Then 2 months later in July she won another clay court tournament winning the Gastein Ladies. She is not quite as comfortable on hard courts although she did win the US Open a few years ago.

Summary:  Stosur and Watson have not played each other before and the match should be closer than the odds suggest.

Watson 3.10  Stosur 1.33

Niculescu v Pavlyuchenkova

TENNIS - Moscow Open, Russia - Women

2015-10-20 12:30:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-19 20:57:30)

Market Information

Monica Niculescu is a tricky customer to play as she under-spins many of her shots so that her opponents need to be very patient. She played well during the summer winning 3 matches in Bucharest and at Wimbledon. She reached the final in Birmingham having beaten Radwanska and Konta along the way.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has just won a tournament in Linz although she had an easy draw with all the good players losing in earlier rounds. She is having a good season winning a high percentage of her matches but may be tired coming into this event, although she does have home advantage.

Info:  Niculescu and Pavlyuchenkova have only played once back in 2013 when the Russian won in 3 sets. The match should be closer than the odds suggest.

Niculescu 3.50  Pavlyuchenkova 1.27

Pennetta v Gavrilova

TENNIS - Moscow, Russia - Women

2015-10-21 10:30:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-21 09:20:12)

Market Information

Flavia Pennetta is retiring at the end of the year but still has a chance to qualify for the Finals in Singapore. She achieved her life's ambition by winning the US Open in September.

Daria Gavrilova is an up and coming young Russian player who is now based in Australia. She lacks experience but is a dangerous player as she showed when beating Sharapova earlier in the year. She made the semis in Rome this time losing to Sharapova .

Summary:  Pennetta should have too much experience for Gavrilova.

Pennetta 1.69  Gavrilova 2.08

Kuznetsova v Pavlyuchenkova

TENNIS - Moscow, Russia - Womens Final

2015-10-24 11:00:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-24 08:11:52)

Market Information

Svetlana Kuznetsova is a former French Open winner but is past her best now at 30. She was in the final in Madrid but that was on clay. She prefers a slower surface on which her defensive game can be used more effectively.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has had a good run of late and is on a 9 match winning streak. She won the tournament in Linz on indoor hard and is now in the final of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow on the same surface. The fast surface suits her aggressive style of play and she beat Kuznetsova recently in Wuhan, China losing just one game.

Summary: The 3 previous meetings all went to Kuznetsova but that was 5 years ago and she may be a bit tired with all the matches she has played and her right leg was heavily strapped this week. Pavlyuchenkova is the bet.

Kuznetsova 1.85  Pavlyuchenkova 1.90

Halep v Pennetta

TENNIS - Championship, Women Singapore

2015-10-25 07:00:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-24 23:38:17)

Market Information:

Simona Halep split with her coach earlier in the year and her form has suffered as a result. She had surprising losses to Allertova , Konta and Arruabarrena in China in the last few weeks.

Flavia Pennetta is retiring at the end of the year and will want to finish on a high. She is 9/1 to win the Red Group with Paddy Power which is good value as there are injury doubts about Sharapova and Halep has not been in good form of late. Pennetta is 20/1 to win the tournament which is also value.

Info: Pennetta is leading 4-1 against Halep head to head beating her recently in the US Open 6-1 6-3.

Halep 1.38  Pennetta 2.87

Kvitova v Kerber

TENNIS - WTA Championship Women - Singapore

2015-10-26 11:30:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-25 17:06:33)

Market Information

Petra Kvitova has the ability to raise her game on the big occasion as she showed when winning 2 Wimbledon titles. She has won 3 tournaments this year including New Haven which was on hard courts. She has a 4-2 head to head record against Kerber having won the last 3.

Angelique Kerber has never won a Grand Slam, managing just 2 semi-finals. She has won 4 tournaments this year on 4 different surfaces however Kvitova should be favourite in the battle of the left-handers.

Summary:  Small amount of value with Kvitova.

Kvitova 1.85  Kerber 1.90

Radwanska v Pennetta

TENNIS - WTA Championship Women - Singapore

2015-10-27 07:00:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-26 21:36:50)

Market Information

Radwanska played too passively against Sharapova who was clearly out of practice having not played since Wimbledon. Sharapova managed to win by sheer force of personality and was visibly shocked at the outcome. Radwanska won 2 tournaments recently but suffered a loss of form earlier in the year.

Pennetta proved she is a world class player when winning the US Open last month. She couldn't do much against an in form Halep in her first match but should fare better versus Radwanska. She trails 5-3 in head to heads losing earlier in the year but won both their encounters in 2014.

Summary:  Pennetta odds of 3/1 look too big.

Radwanska 1.35  Pennetta 4.00

Halep v Radwanska

TENNIS - WTA Championship - Women - Singapore

2015-10-29 08:00:00 (This report was created at 2015-10-28 19:26:34)

Market Information:

Simona Halep is 1 out of 2 in the round robin stage and has every chance of making the semi-finals. Radwanska has lost her 2 opening matches and is unlikely to qualify. They are 4-4 on head to heads but Halep has won 4 out of the last 5.

Agnieska Radwanska has played too passively in her opening 2 matches and wont be strongly motivated in this match. She has won 2 tournaments recently but overall on the year she has under-performed.

Summary:  Value with Halep.

Halep 1.58  Radwanska 2.31
