Agnieszka Radwanska has played very well this year winning the Shenzhen Open and getting to the semi-final in Australia. She won 3 tournaments last year, including Tokyo, the Tianjin Open and the big end of season tournament in Singapore where she beat Kvitova in the final. She is a very skillful player and reads the game really well.

Petra Kvitova is not as consistent and has lost a number of matches this year against lesser players (Ostapenko. Brengle, Niculescu, Gavrilva and Zheng). In her 3 matches so far in this tournament she has been taken to 3 sets. Last year she won in New Haven and Madrid although that was on clay, she also won the tournament in Sydney. She is still not quite over a long term illness.

Info:  Heads to heads favour Kvitova 6-3 but Radwanska won their last encounter.

Summary:  Value for Radwanska at 1.60, although her right thigh has been heavily strapped in previous rounds.

She lost to Kvitova in the semi in Madrid, then in August she lost to Bencic in the semi final of the Rogers Cup. So she has only lost 3 matches all year on the regular tour but won 50.

Agnieska Radwanska although very skilful is normally over-powered by Serena. This year she won the tournament in Shenzhen but lost badly to Suarez-Navarro in the semi final in Qatar Open. She has been in good form in this tournament and has dropped only 1 set so far in the first round to Cibulkova.

Market Information

Serena Williams very nearly achieved the calendar grand slam last year, only being thwarted by Pennetta in the US Open. She limits her schedule during the year but generally wins the tournaments she plays in. She can often start matches slowly, seemingly having to go behind before she wakes up. But when she does there is only one result.

Victoria Azarenka has played well this year winning in Brisbane then reaching the 1/4 final in the Australian. She had to withdraw from the tournament in Acapulco after the first round but is now fully recovered. Last year she gradually found her form having returned from a bad injury the previous year.

Info: In head to heads Serena leads 17-3 and Azarenka hasn't beaten her for 3 years. The 3 meetings last year all went to 3 sets but with the usual outcome .

For this match she has home advantage .

Camila Giorgi has only won 4 matches this year although she has been a bit unlucky in 2 of the draws being paired against Kerber and Serena Williams. Last year she reached the final in Katowice, although that was on clay and she won the grass court tournament in Holland. She plays a high risk game which is often her down-fall.

Info:  In head to heads they stand at 2-2, with the last encounter being in 2014 which Giorgi won. This tournament is played on the hard courts.

Summary:  Value on Brengle at 2.25.

Women's outright winner

2016-03-24 17:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-03-23 11:49:50)

Market Information

Serena Williams looks good at 2.75 to win the Miami Open for a fourth straight year. She has also won the tournament on 5 other occasions dating back to 2002. She lives in Palm Beach Gardens which is just up the coast in Florida so will enjoy home State advantage. Last week she made the final in Indian Wells but never really settled against Azarenka. Only at 5-1 down in the second set, having lost the first set did she start playing, but by then it was too late. The controversy surrounding the tournament with the Williams sisters, dating back many years, may have had something to do with it. However in this tournament she should be in a more relaxed state of mind.

Summary:  Serena Williams to win the Women's Miami Open at 2.75.

She also reached the 1/4 final at Wimbledon and the semi-final in the French. In March she won the Monterrey Open and a clay court tournament before that.

Margarita Gasparyan is an up and coming young Russian player. She won 3 matches in the Australian beating Errani in the first round then lost to Serena Williams in the forth round. In Qatar she won against Pliskova in the first round. Last year in August she won the Baku Cup, winning against Cibulkova in the first round, although overall it was a weak field. She qualified for Wimbledon but was again unlucky to face Serena in the first round.

Coco Vandeweghe has been winning more matches than usual recently but has still not managed to get past the third round in any tournament this year. Last year she won 3 matches in Wuhan and made the 1/4 final at Wimbledon. She plays a high risk game with no plan B, so Suarez-Navarro should be too consistent for her even though Vandeweghe has home advantage.
