Market Information:

Elena Vesnina is Russian, she is 29 and ranked 55 in the world. She has done well this year making the final in Charleston where she lost to Stephens. She also won 3 matches in Qatar before losing to Suarez-Navarro. She seems to much prefer playing outside to indoors. Her improved form could be attributed to her settled home life as she was married late last year. Her best surface is clay having won a career 53.7% of her matches on this surface.

Petra Kvitova is aged 26 and ranked 6th in the world. She has had an indifferent start to the year by her own high standards, losing twice in the first round to Zheng in Shezhen and Brengle in Dubai. In Qatar she lost to Ostapenko in the second round but did win 3 matches in Stuttgart on clay before losing to eventual winner Kerber. Kvitova's best surface is grass having won 2 Wimbledon titles but has still won 68.1% of career matches on clay.

Info: These players have not met before on the WTA Tour.

Summary: Slight value for Vesina at 3.00

Pavlyuchenkova, Anastasia v Giorgi, Camila

TENNIS Madrid Spain Women-16

2016-05-03 15:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-03 11:18:26)

Market Information

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has only had an average start to the season, losing in the first round on 5 occasion. However clay is just about her best surface winning 58.1% if her career matches on the red stuff. She is Russian, aged 24 and ranked 26 in the world. She comfortably won her first match in this current tournament. Last year she fared a lot better winning in Linz and getting to the final in the Kremlin Cup. She was also in the final in Washington where she lost to Stephens.

Camila Goirgi has played well this year, reaching the final in Katowice on clay. She beat her fellow countrywoman Errani in the first round here in Madrid. Grass is by far her best surface but she much prefers clay to hard courts. Last year she won the tournament in Holland on grass and was again a finalist in Katowice. She goes for her shots a bit too much .

Info: The players have not played each other before.

SUMMARY: Slight value for Pavlyuchenkova at Pavlyuchenkova 2.24.

Halep v Bacsinszky

TENNIS Madrid Spain Women

2016-05-04 13:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-04 09:53:48)

Market Information

Simona Halep has not had a good year so far. She has lost 4 times in the first round, including last time in Stuttgart where she lost badly to Siegemund 6-1 6-2. She has had a few injury problems and withdrew from Brisbane at the start of the year. The end of last year wasn't much better either, only winning one match in the end of season championship in Singapore. Before Wimbledon of last year she split with her coach.

Timea Bacsinszsky is a good match player, having lost the second set in both her first 2 rounds but then came back strongly in the decider. The tournament she won in Rabat last week was not very strongly contested but would be a great help to her confidence. She must put a lot of effort into winning her matches because there is such an emotional release at the end. Her semi-final in Miami was hard earned with wins over Ivanovic and Radwanska. She makes good use of her ability by playing the percentage shot.

INFO: In head to heads Bacsinszsky trails 1-2 to Halep, but won their last meeting this year.

SUMMARY: Good value for Bacsinszsky at 2.69

Halep 1.58 v Bacsinszky 2.69

Azarenka v Chirico

TENNIS Madrid Spain Women

2016-05-04 14:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-04 12:06:24)

Market Information:

Louisa Chirico is an exciting up and coming young America, she is 19 years old and ranked 130 in the world. She is making a name for herself in this tournament by beating unorthodox and tricky player Niculescu in the first round then coming from behind against Ivanovic in the second round. She got double bageled in Stuttgart (6-0 6-0) by Kvitova but was not put off by that coming into this tournament. She also won against Safarova in Charleston and took a set off Stephens in Mexico in February.

Victoria Azarenka may take a set before she works out Chirico's game.

SUMMARY: Slight value for Chirico to win the first set at 5.50.

Halep v Begu

TENNIS Madrid Spain Women

2016-05-05 13:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-05 10:32:20)

Market Information:

Simona Halep played well in the previous round but is still not at her best. She is coached by Darren Cahill and ranked 7 in the world. Seems to play equally well on all surfaces except indoor hard where her record is below 50%. The main court in Madrid has a feel of an indoor court with only a small roof area open to the sky. This can cause difficult shadows and might explain 1 or 2 upsets.

Irina-Camelia Begu is a tall Romanian aged 25 and ranked 34 in the world . She has been showing signs of improvement in the last few months. In the last round in this current tournament she beat Muguruza from a set down. In Charleston and Miami she won 3 matches beating Pliskova in Miami. Her best surface is clay winning 58.8% of career matches on that surface compared to 50% on hard courts. Last year in September she won the tournament in Korea although in quite a weak field. She also won 3 rounds in the Australian .

Info:  In head to heads Halep leads 3-0 but they haven't played for 4 years.

Summary:  Value on Begu at 5.00.

Halep 1.25 v Begu 5.00

TENNIS Madrid Spain Women

2016-05-06 20:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-06 13:35:11)

Market Information:

Simona Halep has only had an average year so far, losing badly in Stuttgart to surprise finalist Laura Siegemund. Worth betting against Halep again. In her match against Begu, Begu won the second set 6-0. which meant a profit could have been taken before the third set .

Samantha Stosur is 32 now but still very fit and ranked 23 in the world. Her best surface is clay having won 64.4% career matches on that surface compared to 60.8% on hard courts. She was in the final in Prague, losing to Safarova in 3 sets. Last year she won 3 rounds in the US Open before losing to eventual winner Pennetta. Her kick serve on clay is quite difficult to handle. In July she won the Gastein Ladies Tournament on clay and she also won the clay court tournament in Strabourg in May.

Info: In head to heads they stand at 3-3, Halep winning the last 3 but they were all 3 years ago. 2 of them went to 3 sets and the other had a first set tie-break. Both their meetings on clay in 2010 and 2011 were won by Stosur.

SUMMARY: Value on Stosur at 3.25.

Market Information

Dominika Cibulkova is from Slovakia, she 27 and ranked 38 in the world. At 5 foot 4 she is a veritable pocket battleship. She has made an excellent recovery from a left achilles tendon injury from last year. She needed an operation which kept her out of the game from February to June, only returning at the Aegon International. This year she won 3 matches in Hobart then in February made the final in Acapulca, losing to Sephens in a closely fought match on clay. In April she won in Katowice, Poland beating Giorgi in the final, also on clay. Clay is by far her best surface winning 65.8% of her matches on this surface compared to only 54.2% on hard courts. In this current 64 player tournament she has won 5 matches, the first 4 all going the distance. In the semi-final she won easily against Chirico 6-1 6-1 .

Simona Halep has come back in form in this tournament, winning all but one of her matches in straight sets.

Info:  In head to head Cibulkova leads 3-1, winning their last meeting 2 years ago in the Australian 6-3 6-0. Strangely enough Cibulkova has inflicted 3 x 6-0 sets on Halep over the years. although in one of these she lost the match.

SUMMARY: Halep is favourite but slight value for the energetic Cibulkova at 3.00.

She lost in the first llaround in Madrid and Katowice recently on clay but won 3 matches in Miami on hard courts. In march she won the hard court tournament in Monterrey. Last year she won in Hobart on hard courts beating Stephens early on.

Info: In head to heads Errani leads 1-0 having played their only meeting in 2014.

Riske v Stosur

TENNIS Rome Italy ( Women's )

2016-05-10 11:30:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-10 09:26:47)

Market Information

Alison Riske has not really learnt how to play on clay where you have to slide into the shot. She has only won 6 matches in her career on clay to 17 losses. She has been beaten 5 times in the first round this year. Although she won 4 rounds in Shenzhen in January, that was on her favoured hard courts. Last year was a similar story losing 14 times in the first round and only really stringing a few wins together on grass or hard courts.

Samantha Stosur likes playing on clay, enjoying a 64% career record on that surface. This year she won 3 matches in Madrid before losing in the semi-final to eventual winner Halep. She was in the final in Prague and won 2 clay court tournaments last year. Her kick serve works very well on clay.

Info:  In head to heads Stosur leads 1-0 having won against Riske in Tokyo in 2015 from a set down.

SUMMARY: Not worth the Riske, so value in Stosur at 1.42.

Ante-Post - Rome Open (Women's Tennis )

Rome Open, Italy ( Women's )

2016-05-10 23:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-09 19:36:20)

Market Information - Outright Winner:

Timea Bacsinszsky is from Swizerland, she is 26 years old and ranked 10th in the world. She plays well on clay having won 61.5 % of her matches on that surface. She has had a good year winning in Morocco then losing to Halep in Madrid who went on to win the tournament. She won 4 matches in Miami before losing to Kuznetsova in the semi-final. She is on the easier side of the draw with Serena Azarenka and Halep all in the top half. Also Muguruza in the bottom half is badly out of form and Kvitova blows hot and cold. The only real danger is Kerber who is very consistent

Summary: Bacsinszsky 33/1 each-way, value in the each-way part to reach the final.

Kuznetsova v Stosur

TENNIS Rome Italy ( Women's )

2016-05-11 13:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-11 10:36:24)

Market Information:

Svetlana Kuznetsova is having a great year having made the final in Miami and also winning the tournament in Sydney in January. She is from Russia, aged 30 and ranked 19 in the world. Both players have won the US Open but Kuznetsova has won the French as well which is on clay of course. Clay is Kuznetsova's best surface on which she enjoys a 70.3% career record. She is a very determined player who is not put off by anything. In her previous match against Garcia she was warned for slow play by the umpire, but that just fired her up and she won easily after that. In Prague she won 3 matches but then had to withdraw with an abdominal injury.

Samantha Stosur best surface is also clay and is having a successful year. In her first round match she was match-point down against Riske in the second set but came through and won the decider easily. She made the semi-final in Madrid but lost badly to Halep. She was also in the final in Prague losing to home favourite Safarova in 3.

Info: Battle of the veterans. In head to heads they stand at 4-4 but crucially Kuznetsova won their last meeting on clay in 2015. She also won their only other meeting on clay in the French some years ago

SUMMARY: Value for Kuznetsova at 1.84.

Strycova v Bouchard

TENNIS Rome Italy Womens

2016-05-12 20:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-12 14:55:50)

Market Information:

Barbora Strysova is from the Czech Republic, she is 30 years old and ranked 36 in the world. She is having a successful year having made the final in Dubai where she lost to Errani. She also won 3 matches in the Australian beating Muguruza in the third round. Clay is her best surface and she has won both her opening matches here in straight sets.

Eugenie Bouchard beat world number 2 Angelique Kerber in the previous round, which is her first win against a top 10 player since 2014. She lost the second set from 3-0 up but didn't crumble and secured the vital break in the decider. She has been doing more gym work of late and looks stronger and fitter and no longer fears matches going to a third set. She has returned to her original coach Nick Saviano and although he is not with her this week. it is clear to see the beneficial influence he has had on the young Canadian. She has made two finals this year in Hobart and Kuala Lumpur.

Info: In head to heads Bouchard leads 3-1 although she lost to Strycova last year in Madrid having won the first set 6-0. Hopefully that hasn't effected her to much psychologically.

Keys v Strycova

TENNIS Rome Italy Women's

2016-05-13 14:30:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-13 10:46:51)

Market Information

Madison Keys was once in an earthquake while paying tennis in Costa Rica. Her match against Strycova should be a bit easier as long as her serve holds up. She has won her first 3 matches comfortably in straight sets, beating Kvitova in the second round. Her best surface is grass but surprisingly plays better on clay than hard courts with a win percentage of 59.5. She is only 21, ranked 24th in the world and enjoying a successful year. She won 3 matches in Miami and Australian. Last year she made the semi-final in the Australian Open.

Barbora Strycova played extremely well against Bouchard in the previous round, rather than Bouchard playing badly. She is also having a good year ,winning 3 matches in Indian Wells, then retiring in the second set against Halep. She tends to go for her shots and if she is on song can blow her opponents away.

Info:  In head to heads they stand at 1-1, however Keys beat Strycova in Madrid last week on clay which counts for a lot .

SUMMARY: Slight value on Keys at 1.83.

Muguruza v Keys

TENNIS Rome Italy Women

2016-05-14 10:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-13 23:35:25)

Market Information

Garbine Muguruza was born in Venezuela but chose to play for Spain as her father is from that country. She is 22 and ranked 4 in the world. She has only had an average year so far. Apart from this current tournament she has not won more than 2 matches in any tournament and has lost 3 times in the first round against players ranked quite a bit below her. Last year she won the China Open in October and was in the final in Wuhan. She was also in the final at Wimbledon, losing to Serena..

Madison Keys had a tough 3 setter against Strycova today and came good in the deciding set. She joined the Chris Evert Academy in Florida at the age of 9 and later became one of the youngest players to win a match on the WTA Tour at 14. After making the semi-final of the Australian in 2015, she became a top 20 player for the first time. In her previous match she was rubbing her right arm but hopefully this is not a serious concern. In April she appointed Thomas Hogstedt as her coach, who coached Sharapova successfully for some time.

Info:  In head to heads, Keys won their only meeting in 2012.

Summary:  Value for Keys at 3.25.

TENNIS Rome Italy ( Women's Final )

2016-05-15 13:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-15 11:12:36)

Market Information

Serena Williams looks highly motivated to win this tournament as preparation for the French in a week's time. She doesn't lose in many finals and will want to prove at 34 she has still got what it takes to win a few more Grand Slams. Clay is her least favourite surface, but still has a win percentage of 83.5% compared to 88.6% on grass. She lost to Kerber in the final of the Australian in January and to Azarenka in the final in Indian Wells. She then had a surprising loss to Kuznetsova in Miami after winning the first set, but she beat Kuzntesova convincingly in the previous round of this current tournament and looks to be back to her best.

Madison Keys has had a great week and has nothing to lose in the final. However she will need to serve very well to have any chance.

Info: They have met twice before last year (both in Grand Slams) and Keys has not won a set although she did take Serena to a tie-break in the semi-final of the Australian Open.

SUMMARY: Serena Williams to stay calm and win at 1.30.

Market Information

The crowd wont stand for any "baloney"

Caroline Garcia will draw great confidence in beating her fellow countryman and idol Razzano in the previous round. The match was very long and close in the final set. Garcia seems to respond well to playing at home as she showed when winning the Limoges event last year. Her coach and father also has a beneficial effect on her at crucial times in her matches.

Marjana Lucic-Baroni is 34 now and had to qualify for this tournament by winning 2 matches. As a result she may be a bit tired having played 3 more matches than her opponent .( Garcia had a walk-over v Stosur ). The partisan crowd doesn't seem to bother her as she dispatched two French ladies in  Parmentier and Mladenovic in the 2 previous rounds with ease. She plays better on clay than hard courts .

Info:  In head to heads Garcia leads 3-0, beating Lucic-Baroni this year in Miami on hard courts and twice last year, although one finished in a retirement.

SUMMARY:  Slight value for Garcia at 2.02

Tennis - French Open ( Women's)

2016-05-23 10:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-21 15:17:20)

Serena Williams looked in excellent form in Rome where she won the tournament without dropping a set. She had had a surprising loss against Kuznetsova in Miami in her previous tournament but when she played her again in Rome she made no mistake. She has won the French 3 times from 14 attempts with 2 of these wins coming in the last 3 years. This may be partly down to her French coach (from 2012 Patrick Mouratoglou). Clay is not her best surface but she still wins 83.6% of her matches compared to 86.5% on all surfaces.

In the draw she is likely to meet Azarenka in the 1/4 final, who she lost to in Indian Wells (but there is an injury doubt about Azarenka). Then she is likely to play Kerber in the semi-final who she lost to in the final of the Australian Open. Serena will not under-estimate her this time, and in the 25 Grand Slam finals she has played in she has only lost 4 of them.

Summary: Serena Williams at 3.50.

Siegemund v Bouchard

TENNIS French Open ( Women's )

2016-05-23 10:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-22 13:15:08)

Market Information

"Genie not out of the bottle yet"

Laura Siegemund at 28 is having something of a renaissance this year. Ranked 37 in the world she made the final in Stuttgart in April losing to fellow German and world number 2 Kerber. Before that she had won 3 matches in Charleston, beating Keys along the way. She has only lost once in the first round this year. One of her best shots is the drop-shot which works well in colder damp conditions prevalent at the moment. She is strong mentally and studying to be a sports psychologist .

Genis Bouchard is now back with her original coach Nick Saviano who has been a mentor to her over the years. In 2014 she lost her way becoming very anxious about her loss of form. She is more relaxed now and has gained weight. In Rome she beat Kerber in the second round but then lost badly to Strycova. This may have affected her confidence. In March she made the final in Kuala Lumpur and lost a close match to Svitolina. She was also in the final in Hobart in January .

Info:  They two players have never met behave not played before.

Sumary: Value for Siegemund at 1.85.

Market Information

"Count on Konta to add to her tally"

Johanna Konta is British aged 25 and ranked 21 in the world. She started the year very well when winning 5 matches in the Australian to make the semi-final in which she lost to eventual winner Kerber. In March she won 3 matches in Miami, losing to Azarenka. Then came 2 first round losses in Stuttgart and Madrid. She won 2 matches in Rome before losing surprisingly to Doi having won the first set. Konta has a very good serve which is not so effective on clay especially in colder and damp conditions.

Julia Goerges is German, aged 27 and ranked 57 in the world. She plays well on clay with a 55.8% career record compared to only 44.3% on hard courts. She also started the year very well when reaching the final in Auckland where she lost to Stephens. However she has only played averagely for the rest of the year and has lost 3 times in opening rounds. Last year in the French Open she won 3 rounds before losing to Errani.

Info: They have not played before.

SUMMARY:  Konta's superior determination should carry the day, presenting some slight value at 1.65.

Market Information

"There IS rhyme and reason to back Elina Svitolina"

Elina Svtolina is from the Ukraine, she is aged 21 and ranked 20 in the world. She started the year well by winning 3 matches in Dubai, beating Muguruza in the second round. Following that she won the tournament in Kuala Lumpur, beating Bouchard in the final. Since then she has only played averagely. However last year was a different story as she made the semi-final in Cinci, before losing to Serena. In the French Open she won 4 matches and in May she won the tournament in Morocco.

Sorana Cirstea is from Romania, she is aged 26 and ranked 97 in the world. She has played well this year, winning 3 matches in Rio and Madrid. In this current tournament she has already won 3 qualifying matches so may be a bit tired coming into the tournament proper. Last year she did not win that many matches, losing 3 times in the first round.

Info: They have not played before.

SUMMARY:  Given the big difference in their rankings Svitolina is some value at 1.98.

Market Information

" Radwanska in Pole Position "

Caroline Garcia has come into the French in good form having just won in Strasbourg although she had an easy draw and only had to win 4 matches with Stosur withdrawing. She had lost twice in the first round on clay before Strasbourg and in Madrid she lost to Cibulkova. Clay is her best surface having won 60% of her matches compared to 49% on hard courts. She seems to respond well to home support as she won the Limoges tournament in November of last year.

Agnieszka Radwanska is from Poland, she is 27 and ranked 2nd in the world. Clay is not her best surface although she still enjoys a 67.2% record on the red stuff, compared to 72% on hard courts. She has had a successful year so far, winning the tournament in Shenzhen and making the semi-final in the Australian. The clay court season hasn't been quite as good, losing to an in form Siegemund in Stuttgart and to Cibulkova in Madrid. Radwanska is a very skilful player and should be able to adapt to adverse conditions & partisan crowd.

Info:  In head to heads Radwanska leads 2-1 having won their last meeting in Dubai of last year. However all 3 matches have gone the distance.

SUMMARY: Despite home advantage for Garcia there is value in backing Radwanska at 1.65 or better.

Suarez Navarro v Cibulkova

TENNIS French Open ( Women's )

2016-05-28 11:00:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-27 18:28:18)

Market Information

"Dominika to dominate"

Carlo Suarez-Navarro is from Spain, she is 27 years old and ranked 14 in the world. She plays much better on clay although this year she has played very well on hard courts as well. She won the tournament in Qatar in February and won 4 matches in the Australian. Last year she lost her way for a while (mid season), when she was defeated 8 matches on the trot. However before that she had made the final in Rome on clay.

Dominika Cibulkova is from Slovakia, she is aged 27 and ranked 25 in the world. She is having an excellent year, making the final in Madrid, beating Radwanska in the first round. Now fully recovered from the injury which side-lined her for at least 2 months last year and is now back to her best. She plays much better on clay with a 65.8% career record compared to 54.2% on hard courts. In April she won the tournament in Katowice on clay and was in the semi-final in Hobart in January. She is a very positive thinker with tremendous energy.

Info:  In head to heads Cibulkova leads 3-1 although Suarez-Navarro won their last meeting in Moscow last year.

SUMMARY: Should be a close match with value to Cibulkova at odds of 2.46.

Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid

UEFA Champions League Final

2016-05-28 20:45:00 (This report was created at 2016-05-28 16:01:07)

Market Information

Real Madrid are missing Varane (df 26/0).

Atletico Madrid no missing players.

Probable Line-ups:

Real Madrid: Navas, Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo, Casemiro, Kroos, Modric,Bale, Benzema, Ronaldo.

Atletico Madrid: Oblak, Juanfran, Godín, Savic, Luís, Koke, Gabi, Fernandez, Ñíguez, Griezmann, Torres.

Info: Real Madrid have overcome Roma, Wolfsburg and Man City on their way to the final and have been fortunate to come through in each of those ties. Given the way they started the season, it would be remarkable for them to finish it with their 11th European title.Real Madrid have kept a clean sheet in 6 of their last 7 matches, they have also seen under 2.5 goals in their last 4 matches against Atletico Madrid in all competitions. Atletico Madrid will be out to exact revenge on Real Madrid after their cruel defeat in the 2014 Champions League final. Diego Simeone's side have had to overcome Benfica, Bayern Munich and Barcelona on their way to Milan and are deservedly in with a chance of lifting the trophy. Atletico Madrid are undefeated in 11 of their last 12 matches against Real Madrid in all competitions.

SUMMARY: We know that goals have been few and far between in recent clashes between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid and another tense affair is on the cards tonight. Atletico Madrid have already beaten their neighbors this season, and they managed to earn a 1-1 draw at the Vicente Calderon in October. English match official Mark Clattenburg will be overseeing the game, and following his questionable display in the FA Cup final, the 41-year-old will need to be on top form. Atletico are on the hunt for their first ever Champions League crown, and their defeat in 2014 could spur them on to victory. I see a tight game and odds of 12/1 on each to win on penalties is decent value. I also think the card count could be high this evening as both teams really go for it.

Real Madrid 2.45 Draw 3.02 Atletico Madrid 3.24
